Due to the large size of our Year 3 cohort we have decided to split Year 3C into two sessions. This allows access to a full lane per group, allowing maximum benefit of tuition and safe travel to the pool on the bus without having to share three to a seat. Parents/Guardians of students in 3C will be advised of their session time in a separate letter and compass notification.
All children will travel to and from the Swimming Centre by bus and will need to wear their bathers to school, underneath their uniform. Children will also need to bring spare underwear and a towel for changing afterwards. Swimming caps are not compulsory but if you would like to purchase one they will be available from the school office for $8.00 each. School students share the change rooms with the general public and teachers will be there to supervise students in the change area. Family change rooms may also be utilised on the pool deck for any parents who would like to assist their child.
Swimming lessons are an integral part of our Physical Education Program and all children are expected to attend. We do understand that there are some circumstances that prevent your child from swimming. If this is the case, then please send notification in writing as soon as you know they won’t be participating, so we can provide the Swimming Centre with an accurate number of participants, and remove the charges from your account.
Thank you to those of you who have already paid for this program. For those who have not yet paid, would you please make your payment as soon as possible (payment using Qkr is preferred). All money must be paid by Thursday 15 August. If you are not sure whether or not you have paid, please check the statement which was emailed to you on Tuesday 30 July or ask at the office. If you did not receive a statement, you have no outstanding charges on your account.
The total cost of the program is $90.00 per child for Years 3 to 4 and $75.00 per child for Foundation to Year 2. This amount covers the cost of transport, pool admission and expert swimming instruction. This price is for the whole program and unfortunately, there are no refunds for missed lessons. Parents wishing to use any CSEF credits on their account (if applicable) or who pay by BPay will need to tick the appropriate box on the slip sent home via purple pocket and return it to the office. BPay codes are included on your account statement. Please fill in the permission slip provided separately, sign and return it to your child’s classroom teacher, along with your payment by Thursday 15 August.
By the end of primary school, it is anticipated that students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills identified in the Victorian Water Safety Certificate. The Swimming in Schools initiative aims to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn how to swim and develop lifelong skills in water safety to reduce their risk of drowning and injury.
