This year the Bike Ed program, a part of the school curriculum, will be taught to children in Year 4 during Week 8 and 9 (November 30 - December 6). The session dates are:
The success of the outdoor riding component of this program is dependent on parent help so if you can assist on any of the dates listed, can you please let us know. You don't have to ride. Simply supervising and helping to guide our students through different activities will be a great help to us.
Each child will require a bicycle in safe working order and an approved helmet that fits correctly and is in good condition. A bike safety check will be undertaken during week 6 on Tuesday 13th of November and we request your cooperation in having any necessary repairs, adjustments or replacements made promptly. Please return the safety check list to confirm the condition of your child's bike. A helmet safety check will also be undertaken and it is essential that your child's bicycle helmet fits comfortably and securely and that the polystyrene foam liner is undamaged. Your child must have footwear that has closed toes and firm, non-slip soles.
The program consists of classroom, take-home activities and cycling activities done outdoors in the school grounds. All of these activities will be supervised.
Please complete the form sent home in your child's purple pocket to indicate your approval of and permission for your child to participate in the Bike Ed program. Thank you for your cooperation.
