Our students are amazing!

29-Apr-2020

There are 1,000,000 students in Victoria who are all trying to make sense of remote learning, isolation and social distancing. Each day our students roll their sleeves up and get to work. We are immensely proud of how they have handled themselves throughout this difficult time.

Our students are having to fight the urge to do what comes naturally to them- socialise, play and have fun with friends. They are having a hard time being out of their normal routine and structure and for many their learning has slowed. While their learning may have slowed-it has not, and will not, stop.

Our students continue to learn through this time- it may not be traditional ‘book learning’ but they are still learning.

Our students are learning that sometimes life does not always work out as we planned
Our students are learning how to manage their time and how to be patient.
Our students are learning new communication skills and how to face challenges head on
Our students are learning to recognise and understand the different emotions they feel every day
Our students are learning new digital technology skills
Our students are learning about self-awareness, resilience and persistence
Our students are learning how to solve problems through trial and error
Our students are learning from their mistakes and developing a ‘growth mindset’

When we return to regular schooling, our talented and committed staff will help our students transition back into Edithvale. Right now, things may be quite stressful for our students who will be missing their friends and teachers in the school setting and we do not want to add further pressure by providing more and more work for them to complete.

It is one reason why we have dubbed next week- Wellbeing Week- with a greater focus and priority placed upon health and wellbeing rather than curriculum content.

We are determined to keep connected with our community and have a number of engaging and important tasks for our students and families planned. Watch out for these on SEESAW. We hope they help you feel part of a wonderful school community and that they bring a smile to the faces of you and your children.

Stay safe and take care
