Welcome

Edithvale Primary School was established in 1913 and is situated in an environmentally sensitive area between the beach and the wetlands, 28 km south of Melbourne. Our current enrolment is 344 students and there are 15 class groups.

Our vision is to foster a love of learning in our school community. We work together to know and understand our students and their learning needs. We aim to ensure that learning is fun, active and meaningful in an environment where individuality, creativity and curiosity are valued. We endeavour to prepare our students for tomorrow’s world, developing their skills and knowledge, enabling them to live and work in a global community as effective, responsible and caring citizens.

The core programs at Edithvale Primary School are literacy and numeracy. Specialist subject areas are Physical Education, French and The Arts. Staff work and plan in teams to ensure engaging and exciting programs that cater for the individual needs and talents of our children. Our extensive extra-curricular program provides a range of opportunities for students to experience a broad range of activities facilitated by our dedicated staff and passionate parents.

We have a strong and supportive student welfare program based upon Restorative Practices and Education. These programs are supported by Student Representative Council and classroom management programs. A whole-school focus for each term is determined by the Wellbeing Team which integrates the teaching of positive character traits such as gratitude, persistence, and integritythat help develop individuals who can thrive in today’s world. A designated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre has 30 computers, 3 banks of Netbook Computers and a well-resourced Library. Staff members are committed to their own professional growth and to the wellbeing and educational progress of our students. We actively seek to develop positive and productive relationships with all members of our school community. Parents are invited to participate in effective parent and community activities, services and programs that promote a strong home-school link.
