Dear Families

As the end of the school year fast approaches, and we can all look forward to some rest over the summer and aim to fully recover from another year of challenge and disruption.

Celebrating successes and acknowledging the great work of our students is an important cultural aspect of our great school and next week we have a number of activities planned to help our students head into the break energised and looking forward to a wonderful 2022.

A number of these events on school premises are open to parents and carers and we respectfully ask that if you are attending ANY of these events, you help to keep our community safe by scanning in upon arrival and socially distancing as much as possible. Thank you.

  • On Monday afternoon we will have our second school COLOUR FUN RUN
  • On Tuesday morning there will be a Foundation- Year 3 mini-Christmas concert on our new oval with class parties to follow a bit later in the day
  • On Tuesday our Year 6s have their Graduation Ceremony after their special BIG DAY OUT

Final assembly at 1:30 pm on Wednesday

We’re hoping to invite parents and carers to our final outside assembly of the year on Wednesday from 1:30pm. If the weather decrees that we need to move inside for the assembly, we will need to make this a staff and student ONLY affair in accordance with current DET guidelines. If this is to be the case, we’ll send a COMPASS message as soon as the decision is made.

2022 Student Leaders

It has been a pleasure to be a small part of the process to identify and appoint our student leaders. The respect, resilience and support that our students have afforded each other over throughout the process has been amazing.

This process included students undertaking activities that required strong leadership skills to help teams of students to be successful, delivering a VALUES based speech to their peers that highlights why they would make a great leader and a short interview with our current School Captains, Student Voice Team leaders, Hayley and myself.

We were keen to hear their responses to these 3 questions, and were extremely impressed with the depth of their answers and the thought given to each answer

  1. Our school VALUES – include being KIND, DETERMINED and RESPECTFUL. As a school leader, please tell us how you will demonstrate these each and every day.
  2. What characteristics do you believe great leaders show? Tell us about a time when you demonstrated some of these characteristics
  3. Please talk to us about a leader that you know that you look up to. What reasons can you give us for why you are inspired by that person?
ALL of our students can be proud of their efforts and whether they have an ‘official’ leadership position in 2022, we know that every one of them is a leader in their own right and excellent role models.
