School Council Update

TERM

4

19-December-2024

From the President – Andrew Murray

As we close out the year, you’ll read about the many events and initiatives our subcommittees have completed in term four, as well as what we have in store for term one next year. We’d love to welcome new members to our subcommittees in 2025, so please reach out to the office or any of our convenors to register your interest.

In addition to some of this work, we’ve been working with the City of Kingston for a more

suitable traffic management solution in French Avenue. When school returns, the local council will conduct an onsite review of traffic, parking, and pedestrian safety during drop-off/pick-up before proposing improvements.

It wouldn’t be an end-of-year report without a few thank-yous:

To our school council, who have demonstrated tremendous commitment in planning and implementing many great things for our school. We’re fortunate to have a group of hard working, talented individuals volunteering their time for the betterment of our school community.

To our class reps and volunteers, for their time in helping to make things happen around the school. It really goes a long way.

To the staff and teachers for their care and commitment to excellence.

And lastly, to our broader school community of students and families for making 2024 such a memorable year.

Congratulations to our class of 2024 and we wish you all the best on your next adventure. Have a safe holidays and see you in 2025.

From the Principal – Hayley Grindley

I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of  our School

Council members for their outstanding dedication and hard work in 2024. This year has been filled with incredible achievements, and much of that success can be attributed to their commitment to making our school a better place for all students.

The council has been heavily involved in planning school events, advocating for positive changes across school inside and outside of the classroom. Their efforts have truly made a difference in improving our learning environment and strengthening the sense of community here at EPS.

I would also like to thank the many volutneers that joined our sub committees and our Class Reps that have kepts our families informed throughout the year. Every contribution goes a long way to keeping our community thriving!

As we look ahead to the new year, I am excited to see all the new ways our School Council will continue to represent our students and EPS community in 2025.

Buildings & Grounds – convenor Briony Joy

The Buildings and Grounds subcommittee has worked diligently throughout the year.

We held two working bees in terms 3 & 4, which improved school grounds, and we sincerely thank all our willing volunteers who helped make such an impact.

There are works due for completion over the coming summer break, including installing picnic tables near the art room and creating a new cement pathway from the Haig St entrance gate.

More working bees and other exciting school improvement projects are planned for 2025, watch this space!

Wishing the entire school community a happy and safe holiday period.

EPS Families- convenor Katie Tobin (Vice President)
