Family Wellbeing Support

22-April-2020

Dear Families,

We recognise and understand that these difficult times bring challenges that we may not be prepared for. This is a very hard time for families. It’s also the perfect time to remember that you don’t have to be perfect! It is perfectly normal to feel tired, stressed and worn out.

Our ongoing commitment to our students’ and our parents’ health and wellbeing has seen us reach out to the CASEA team, to offer support in managing the different emotions that many of our families may be feeling right now.

In CASEA, our community has some of the best supports available and the accompanying TIP Sheets- Parenting during Challenging Times and How to talk to children about COVID-19- may be helpful when considering how to take care of ourselves and stay connected with each other.
This additional layer of support is unique to our school and we are fortunate at this time to have access to the Alfred Child Youth Mental Health Service again this term.

In light of COVID-19, the CASEA (CYMHS and Schools Early Action) team are available for telephone Consultation Sessions for parents and carers on a weekly basis in Term 2, 2020.

All CASEA team members are Mental Health Clinicians with specialized training and clinical practice in child and adolescent mental health and well-being. The team are available for parents and carers who want to discuss topics such as:

  • Questions or concerns about a child’s social emotional wellbeing, mental health, or behaviours
  • Questions or concerns about how the child is responding to COVID-19
  • Questions about how to support children in the current circumstances.

Information on what a consultation session includes and how you can book in for these is included here (and in the attachment)

Please book in with Bree Campbell (CASEA Coordinator) by emailing b.campbell@alfred.org.au or calling 8552 0555 with the following information:

  • Your name and child’s name
  • The number you would like to be contacted on
  • What would you like to discuss and get out of this consultation?
  • Preferred date and time (i.e., Tuesday 5th May at 9am).

Best Wishes. Stay Safe. Keep Connected
